Probably closest in sound to the latter band, Negative Press are clearly inspired by the 90s Amphetamine Reptile sound… churning, uncomfortable rhythms, heavy guitars, and venomous vocals. People can mean a lot of things when they reference the AmRep sound, but I think Negative Press are more on the meaty, thick, Unsane-end of things than the “artsier” sound that some bands go for. In other words, this is propulsive and punk in a later Black Flag kind of way, but way heavier and meaner. A really excellent LP from Inimical Records.
