Dirty Dead

Spawned from the twisted minds of Neil Burkdoll (Fatalist, Logsplitter, Stump) and Brad Vanderzee (Decrypt), Dirty Dead began to take shape in the quiet Chicago suburb of Highland, Indiana in the summer of 2004.  Stitching together the black heart and spare limbs of their Death Metal / Grindcore background with the disfigured face and haunting voice of early punk bands such as the Misfits, the Ramones, and Fear, Dirty Dead recorded their debut EP “Sounds From the Haunted House” in late 2004 as a two piece with Brad handling the drums and vocals and Neil taking care of the guitars and bass.  After an overwhelming response following the release of the EP, Dirty Dead enlisted the aid of Steve Barick and Mike Bailey from Stump and Logsplitter to form a live , touring version of the band and the body was complete.

2005 and 2006 saw Dirty Dead on numerous tours and live performances, a split CD release with Ghoul Squad from Massachusetts, countless compilation appearances worldwide, and 18 songs on deck for their debut full length release.  Then the core of the band was suddenly split when Neil moved out to Los Angeles, California and Dirty Dead laid in wait for several years until it’s dead eyes opened once again.

Neil became consumed and began tirelessly working on the songs that were written before the move.  He constructed a new live line up of Dirty Dead consisting of Art Hayes of Fatalist and Chris Janus of Kevorkian and began to start the wheels in motion booking on both the west coast with this new line up and in the Chicago area and east coast with it’s previously existing one with either Brad or Neil traveling out for the shows.  Now with it’s two monstrous heads and gaping jaws devouring both sides of the continent Dirty Dead was finally ready to unleash it’s debut full length “Carnivorous Lunar Activities” on the unsuspecting populace via Southern California death punk label Nothing But A Nightmare.
